Human Resources Director
Ministry Description



Reports to:  General Manager

Position Description:  The Human Resources Director is responsible for the overall management of the Human Resources Department.  This includes attracting, developing, and retaining those who God has called to work at Southeast and develop a positive work environment in which employees consistently contribute at a high level.  It also entails understanding and enforcing Southeast’s personnel policies as well as the laws and governance of accepted HR practices.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
1.    Perform human resource functions to ensure the smooth operations of all HR procedures.  This includes:
     •    Full-cycle recruiting for all paid positions – assist with writing job descriptions, advertise for job openings, communicate with candidates
          during the hiring process, conduct interviews.
     •    New Employee Orientation delivery.
     •    Maintain and update employee handbooks and job descriptions as needed.
     •    Benefits administration including working with benefits broker to manage employee insurance and retirement accounts, conduct annual open
          enrollment, educate employees in appropriate benefits.
     •    Employee development – develop, update and deliver training.
     •    Compensation management.
     •    Performance management including refinement of appraisal process.
     •    Work with Leadership Team on organizational issues including organizational development, communication and management.
     •    Process payroll bi-monthly and provide appropriate payroll reports to Finance department.
     •    Conduct Risk Management training.
     •    Understand and ensure compliance with all federal and state HR-related law.
     •    Serve as workers compensation point person and work with workers compensation benefits provider on all claims.
     •    Ensure compliance with all federal and state HR-related laws.
     •    Maintain personnel files.
     •    Maintain HR database.
     •    Review and approve all HR-related invoices.
     •    Conduct exit interviews and communicate feedback to the appropriate supervisor.
     •    Run background checks on all prospective employees and all volunteers for the church and school that work with youth, and communicate to
          the departments when they are clear.
     •    Maintain ACS records to reflect background check and Risk Management status.
     •    Investigate grievances and employee relations issues.

Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 
     •    5+ years experience with all aspects of HR
     •    Exceptional organization skills
     •    Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
     •    Self-starter and be able to adjust to the changing needs of a growing organization. 
     •    Must be able to work as a team member.
     •    Must be positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous and maintain a professional attitude. 

Non-Essential Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  PHR or SPHR certification

Employment classification:  Full time exempt.

Time requirements:
  These responsibilities will be performed in 40-50 hours a week.
