Spanish Teacher/Kindergarten Assistant
Reports to: School Principal
Position description:
The Spanish teacher will instruct 1st through 8th grade introductory and conversational Spanish and the culture of peoples of Central and South America. The teacher will teach in one 30 minute segment a week for each of the elementary classes and five 30 minute segments a week for middle school classes.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Curriculum based Spanish instruction and cultural enrichment
2. Weekly staff meetings
3. Assessment and evaluation of student progress
4. RenWeb (database lesson plans and homework as well as weekly progress reports).
5. Assist in Kindergarten 3.5 hours five days a week
6. Other duties as assigned
Desired skills/abilities:
The teacher should have a passion for teaching children and for the spiritual needs of children of Latino descent. Fluency in Spanish is a must. They should also have strong organizational skills, flexibility, as this is a traveling position from class to class. Biblical integration is also required in this position as the goal for elementary students is to help them understand the cultural and religious differences and needs of the people of Central and South America.
The Kindergarten assistant will help in all three kindergarten classrooms in the morning to help with reading groups and organization for the teachers. The assistant will also work independently with some small groups as instructed by the Kindergarten teacher.

This person must be a leader who has a passion to see students grow in their walk with God. Must have good “people sense,” and know how to build healthy relationships and effectively communicate with parents and students. This person must be of very strong character and exceptional spiritual maturity. We prefer that this person has had experience as a Spanish teacher.
Time requirements: The position of Spanish Teacher/Kindergarten Assistant is a full time position. This person will be required to attend all morning and afternoon staff meetings as a full time teacher.
