Student Ministry Associate - High School/Music
Ministry/Job Description
Reports to: Lead Student Pastor
Position description: Provide oversight to the High School Student Ministry and organize, direct and manage the music ministry bringing students into an experience of worship through the use of music, arts, and multi-media. Responsible for worship for 7th – 12th grades.
Duties and responsibilities:
1. Work with the Lead Student Pastor, Programming Pastor, Student Ministry Staff, and ministry partners to continually define values and
principles that will guide the use of human and other resources.
2. Manage and direct the affairs of the High School Student Ministry which includes: programming, games, scheduling events,
supervising check-in and attendance, and be responsible for communication to the high school community.
3. Lead the student worship services for Southeast, along with various other worship services on occasional basis.
4. Train, coach and mentor students to lead worship for the Student Ministries.
5. Train and organize adults who can assist with teaching students how to lead worship.
6. Meet with the Student Ministry Staff weekly to plan the worship services.
7. Oversee and lead the Student Worship Team band rehearsal. Create the Worship Team rotation schedule.
8. Score parts for instrumentalists.
9. Conduct auditions for the Worship Team.
10. Integrate a discipleship program as part of the leading worship experience for students.
11. Work with the Student Ministry Staff to create and set-up stage design. Must continually keep the stage & backstage neat and clean
for services and other events.
12. Be contact for Southeast Christian School regarding the use of Room 100 and 120 and equipment.
13. Communicate the Student Ministry’s vision, as well as Southeast’s Core Values and Ministry Mandates to ministry partners.
14. Continually recruit, train, and equip volunteers for Student Ministries, especially for audio, video, & lighting. Also will need to work with
the Event Tech in this area.
15. Oversee all of the audio, video, & lighting to make sure roles and positions are covered.
16. Work with Worship Ministry staff to expand and enhance existing ministries as well as creating new ministry opportunities within the
Worship Ministry.
17. Communicate and ensure adherence to the vision and direction of Student Ministry with all ministry team members and volunteer
staff.
18. Conduct evaluations with Student Worship Team members.
Essential skills/abilities:
• Bachelors degree in Music Ministry, Youth Ministry or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 2-4 years experience as Worship Leader.
• Strong volunteer management skills.
• Strong instrumental and vocal abilities.
• Must be highly creative.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Have a heart for worship.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong A/V equipment skills.
• Adobe Photoshop skills.
• Must be able to work as a team member.
• Must be positive, cooperative, self-motivated, courteous and maintain a professional attitude.
Non-Essential skills/abilities:
• Video editing capabilities
Time requirements: 40-50 hours/week
